This is a little project we did with pressed leaves a long time ago but it is definitely one of our very favourites. We’ve got some pretty flowers from the garden being pressed at the moment so we can try a more colourful spring version soon. I’ll share photos once they’re ready – I can’t wait to see what they’ll look like.
Salt dough is super simple to make – just mix 1 cup of plain flour, 1 cup of salt and about 1/2 -1 cup of warm water (add it slowly so you get the right amount) To make these decorations we just rolled a ball of dough, placed the ‘treasure’ on top and then rolled it out before cutting out a circle shape. I baked these in the oven on a very low heat for hours. I kept it so low so it didn’t burn our leaves. I painted them with modpodge afterwards in attempt to preserve to them. I’d love to tell you they lasted forever, and maybe they would have done, but my kids loved touching them so much that the whole lot fell and smashed one day 😬 Up until that point they still looked as lovely as the day we made them though!
